NEW YORK STATE BAR ASSOCIATION NOTICE

NEW YORK STATE BAR ASSOCIATION
One Elk Street, Albany, New York 12207 ● 518.463.3200 ● www.nysba.org

MARK H. ALCOTT
President

Dear Nadine C. Johnson, Esq.:

Once again I write to request your assistance in urging the Governor and the Legislature to enact a much-deserved and long-overdue salary increase for our state’s judges. In late March, thousands of the Association’s members responded to our call to enact judicial salary reform as part of the state budget. Unfortunately, the budget passed in early April did not include this item, and the proposal for a judicial pay increase continues to be in jeopardy.
As the Legislature focuses on the final weeks of the regular legislative session, scheduled to end on June 21, now is the time to renew our call for action on this critically important issue.

Please contact the Governor and your state legislators today, urging them to approve a judicial salary increase. You can do so by clicking on the following link: www.capwiz.com/nysba. This link will connect you with our Legislative Action Center and a prepared message that you can send to the Governor and your state legislators. After connecting to the Center, click on the “Take Action” button and then enter your zip code and, if required, your home address to identify your state legislators. Finally, add your name and contact information to the prepared letter to the Governor and your legislators and click “Send Message.”

By voicing our serious concerns directly to the Governor and our state legislators between now and the end of the legislative session, we hope to have a significant impact on the decisions being made in Albany. Your involvement is necessary to support the Association’s efforts.
Thank you for your assistance on this important matter.

Sincerely,

Mark H. Alcott, President
